A long drive today, with rain and fog in southern New Brunswick. We seem to have the same weather through this stretch of road no matter when we are passing through it. The border passing was not as bad as it was on the fourth of July weekend when we were going north, but it still took us 30 minutes to get through. We were asked how much alcohol we were bringing back. Well, since the cost of alcohol is unbelievably high in Canada, who in their right mind would be bringing it back in bulk? Same for tobacco. If the Canadians taxed it the same as booze, forget it. Now I could understand the Canadians being concerned with folks bringing it north. Anyway, off on the airline (Rt. 9) to Bangor. Luckily the fog and rain lifted. I-95 as crazy as ever.
We decided to drive as far as we could and stay the night in a motel. Glad to get off the road. So we are just north of New Hampshire in Kittery, Maine. The motel directed us to a great seafood restaurant, so we are mellowed out and ready for the drive tomorrow, perhaps straight home.
