Today our agenda changed. We thought we were taking another boat trip on Trout River Pond, but we learned from our campground neighbor that the bout tour was not running. So went to the Discovery Center run by Parks Canada. What a nice place, built on the side of the hill with wonderful views of East Arm and the Tablelands. The exhibits were great and you could spend half a day just going through them. My favorite part of the exhibits were a series of audio presentations by various scientists who have worked in the park, from geologists, large mammal biologists, etc.
We left the Center and drove a few km along the road to the part of the park called the Tablelands. It was a series of what looked like buttes in the southwest of the US. No green vegetation, yet right across the road was green forested hills. We hiked along the base of the mesa to a little waterfall. It was dry and dusty, rocky, but moose live here. We just missed seeing one along the trail.
In Trout River, we had a lovely lunch at a restaurant along the bay. There was a small boardwalk in town. Lots of mom's with kids walking along, everyone wearing their crocs. Newfoundlanders love their Crocs.
We drove back to a small to
wn on Eastern Arm to take a picture of a lighthouse. After than, we went back to the campground to do laundry and organize for Labrador. People still curious. An older couple was standing in the road looking at us, so I invited them in for a look. The man is a retired guide. He guided moose hunters. He assured us we would see moose on our drive north. Just then it began to rain.
